Oscar is the prestigious award in the world to be given to a film personality. Everyone dreams of picking up an Oscar in their lifetime but it is not very easy because of the tough competition. Now, the Indian jury is busy picking up a film for the 94th Academy Awards. A total of 14 films are picked for the screening taking place in Kolkata. Tamil film Mandela is on the list.
A panel of 15 judges from the Film Federation of India, under the leadership of Malayalam filmmaker Shaji N. Karun, is watching the films to finalize India’s Official Entry for Oscars in the ‘Best International Film’ category.
Sardar Uddham (Hindi), Chello Show (Gujarathi), Nayattu (Malayalam), Mandela (Tamil), and Sherni (Hindi) are the popular titles on the list. There is no Telugu film on the list and the jury will make the final decision soon.
Since it is the centenary year of Satyajit Ray, the first-ever Indian to win an Oscar, the Indian film fraternity is hoping to win an Oscar as a tribute to him.
Jallikattu has been picked as India’s official entry at the Oscars last year but the film failed to make it to the final nominations.
Meanwhile, the Oscars 2022 will be held on March 27th next year.
