Indian Team’s Test skipper Virat Kohli made some hot comments in the press meet held earlier today. This is the first time Virat spoke to the media after he was axed as the Indian ODI skipper. As expected, he made some sensational comments which hinted at internal conflicts within the Indian cricket camp. Just a few days back, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said that he requested Virat not to step down as T20I captain when the latter took the decision in September this year. However, Virat today said that he was never asked not to give up T20 captaincy when he made that decision.
A few days back, Ganguly told that when Virat decided to step down as the T20I captain after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, he requested the star cricketer not to take the decision. He further added that Virat was firm on his decision and thus, BCCI respected it.
However, Virat stated earlier today that no one from BCCI asked him not to give up the T20I captaincy when he made that decision. He said that the board agreed immediately and he also thanked for it. Kohli also added that he was informed about his ODI captaincy removal just 1.5 hours before the Test squad for the upcoming South Africa tour was announced.
He went on to say that he will respect the board’s decision and will continue to serve the country in all three formats, no matter what.
