Virat Kohli: Axing Virat Kohli from captaincy sparked a huge debate among the Indian cricket circles. The BCCI took this bold decision and gave the captaincy responsibilities to Rohit Sharma. Apparently, Kohli has been informed of the news just with an email and there were no formal discussions held with him. This angered many of his fans and they lashed out at BCCI regarding the same. Meanwhile, we now hear that the southpaw is planning to retire from ODIs and T20Is.
Firstly, it is being heard that Kohli is unhappy with the way he was removed from captaincy. Apparently, he wanted to lead the Indian ODI side until the 2023 World Cup. But BCCI shifted the responsibility to Rohit Sharma, saying that there cannot be two white-ball captains for the team. It seems that he felt humiliated after being removed from the captaincy without proper discussions.
On the other side, removing from captaincy also means that there is no guarantee for his place in the team. If he performs badly for two or three matches, his place will be taken by someone else. Virat wants to avoid such circumstances and thus, it is being reported that he is in plans of bidding adieu to the ODI and T20I cricket.
However, these are just speculations and nothing is confirmed yet. Virat is a highly talented player who can be in all formats for the next few years. We hope he won’t take any drastic decisions and continues to serve the country in all the formats of the game.
