Naga Shaurya and Ritu Varma have teamed up for the first time for a romantic drama titled Varudu Kavalenu. This Sowjanya directorial project has been making buzz for the last few weeks. It had hit the screens today and we bring you a review of it. Check it out:
Story:
Akash (Naga Shaurya) and Bhumi (Ritu Varma) are college-mates during their graduation. Bhumi develops feelings for Akash during their college days but she doesn’t express it. Eventually, they part ways and pursue their respective careers. After a few years, Bhumi heads a startup company while Akash moves abroad. Later, they happen to meet again for an architectural project. This time, Akash falls for her but hesitates to propose. How their hide-and-seek love story progresses over time forms the major crux of the film.
Performances:
Naga Shaurya looks stylish and delivered a subtle performance in the movie. He looks suave in corporate attire. The same is the case with Ritu Varma. She looks so classy wearing sarees all the time in the movie. Ritu also gave a stunning performance in her author-backed role.
Murali Sharma and Nadiya gave superb performances as Ritu’s parents. Vennela Kishore, Saptagiri and Praveen gave comic relief. The rest others did justice to their characters.
Technical Aspects:
Director Sowjanya came up with a female-centric story that most of the present generation women can easily relate to. Some of her scenes are etched very well. But the narrative approach is stereotypical and thus, this movie doesn’t stand out from the rest.
Dialogues by Ganesh Ravuri are excellent. His words in the emotional scenes strike a chord with most of the viewers. Music by Vishal Chandrashekar is good too. Cinematography by Vamsi Patchipulusu is top-notch. The production values were great and brought a rich look to the movie.

Verdict:
The first half of the film is simple and engaging with comedy and romantic scenes. The main conflict arrives in the second half. The flashback episode slows the pace of the movie a bit but soon, things get intense as the movie approaches the climax. The conversation scene between Murali Sharma and Nadhiya was written very well. Comedy scenes are routine and disturb the mood of the movie. The climax takes a predictable path and the film ends on a happy note. Varudu Kavalenu is a decent watch even though it has a predictable narrative approach. You can easily watch the film once with your family members.
