UP Cabinet Expansion: New Minister Take Oath Today

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet expansion took place this evening. A total of seven ministers took oath today.  Jitin Prasada, who joined BJP in June this year, takes oath as a minister in the Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet. MLA Chhatarpal Gangwar takes oath as a Minister of State (MoS).

Paltu Ram, MoS SC, Balrampur; Sangeeta Balwant Bind MoS Bind, Ghazipur; Dharamveer Prajapati MoS, Agra; Sanjeev Kumar Gaur ST Sonbhadra; and Dinesh Khatik MoS SC, Meerut also took the oath of office. The oath-taking ceremony was conducted at 5:30 pm in the Raj Bhavan. There are a total of 14 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs as ministers and Uttar Pradesh has more cabinet ministers. The Cabinet expansion appears to be an attempt to balance caste and regional aspiration, months ahead of the assembly polls.

At the Centre, the BJP has 84 MPs from Uttar Pradesh-62 in the Lok Sabha and 22 in the Rajya Sabha. For the first time, the state of Uttar Pradesh has a large representation in the central government. Winning of 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election is very important for the saffron party as its outcome is likely to decide the result of the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Chef Creates 72 Kg Chocolate Sculpture Of Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik

To commemorate the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s 75th birthday, pastry chef Rakesh Kumar Sahu from Begunia of Khordha who runs an institute of baking and pastry art at Tanka Pani Road made a chocolate sculpture weighing around 72 kg. He along with his six students worked for 15 days to finish the sculpture.

Sahu, a sports lover said that he has come up with the idea of creating the sculpture as a tribute to Naveen Patnaik for his constant support for Indian Hockey from the last few years which resulted in a stunning performance by the Men’s and Women’s National Teams in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympic Games 2020.

He said that “I was celebrating the bronze medal win just like the rest of the country when it struck me that I should do something special for our Chief Minister who stood by the National Hockey Teams like a rock during its lowest phase.”

Sahu and his students have faced many problems during the making of chocolate sculpture and they have had many sleepless nights due to temperature variation and changes in moisture levels in their workshop. Odisha Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera in Kalinga Hockey Stadium on Naveen Patnaik’s birthday on Saturday unveiled the chocolate sculpture.

Naveen Patnaik is an Indian politician serving as the current and 14th Chief Minister of Odisha. He is also the president of the Biju Janata Dal and is the longest-serving chief minister of Odisha and as of 2021, one of the longest-serving chief ministers of any Indian state, holding the post for more than two decades, and only the third Indian chief Minister after Pawan Chamling and Jyoti Basu to win five consecutive terms as Chief Minister of an Indian state.

Kerala Witnesses Heavy Rainfall, Red Alert For 5 Districts

Kerala is witnessing heavy rains and a total of six people have died and many are feared missing. The deaths have been reported from Thodupuzha and Kokkayar in Idduki and Koottikkal in the Kottayam district. The officials said that heavy floods have been reported in the hilly areas of Kottayam, Idukki, and Pathanamthitta and also said that the rivers Meenachal and Manimala are now overflowing.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that the situation is serious and further stated that IMD has warned of heavy rains in the state due to a low-pressure system that has formed over the Arabian Sea. He urged the people to keep vigil over the next 24 hours and asked not to venture out.

In a Facebook post, he mentioned that rain had hit the south and central districts and it would intensify in the northern districts by the evening. The water level is likely to increase in some rivers and urged the people who are living in the catchment areas to follow the instructions given by the officials.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a ‘Red Alert’ for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur districts and an ‘Orange Alert’ for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.

India To Grant Tourist Visas To Foreigners From Nov 15

Due to the dangerous coronavirus pandemic, tourists are not going anywhere and even if they book for any place, they have to follow strict protocols. In a recent development, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that India is going to grant tourist visas to foreigners who are coming to the country via chartered flights with effect from October 15. The foreigner tourists who are coming to India from other flights can get visas from November 15. “All Covid-19 protocols and norms notified by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to be adhered to by foreign tourists, carriers bringing them into India, and other stakeholders at landing stations,” an official statement said.

All the visas that have been granted were suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The central government has imposed many restrictions on the travellers to control the spread of coronavirus. It is said that many state governments, as well as stakeholders in the tourism sector, have been sending requests for the approval of tourists visas also so that foreign tourists can come to India. The MHA consulted all major stakeholders like the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Tourism, and various State Governments where foreign tourists are expected to arrive.
