Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has started a program to take public transport system close to the people. It has made the decision to hire bus officials in the villages to draw people to it and has given them the responsibility of raising awareness about numerous citizen-friendly initiatives being implemented for the comfort of passengers.
VC Sajjanar, the managing director of TSRTC, has released guidelines for the selection of village bus officers and their responsibilities. He instructed the authorities to appoint bus officers as soon as possible, and this system will go into effect statewide on May 1.
According to RTC officials, depot managers will appoint bus drivers and conductors who live in villages as “Village Bus Officers.”
These Village Bus Officers are expected to be in constant touch with the villagers and village elders and have a fortnightly meeting and take feedback and suggestions to improve bus services in the village. Their contact details will be kept at the Gram Panchayat,” said TSRTC Chairman Bajireddy Govardhan.
