Huzurabad by-election seems to be a major hurdle for Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) and its founder leader K Chandrasekhar Rao to celebrate grand event of 20 years of their party formation. Though high-level preparations are being done by TRS workers for the plenary session to be held on October 25 in Hyderabad International Convention centre (HICC), there is an air of uncertainty as the cadre seem to be concerned about the impending as well as prestigious by-election!
All the top leaders are shuttling between Huzurabad and HICC, even as the confusion over the winning of Huzurabad hangs, Telangana Chief Minister and TRS supremo KCR seems to have made up his mind to use this opportunity of plenary session in their favour. Yes, the KCR speech which was supposed to be aiming at the central government and its failures is now being rewritten and will be an election speech!
The decision to make use of plenary for the party’s benefit in Huzurabad was taken at a high-level meeting, the party sources said. To close the Huzurabad TRS campaign, the party had scheduled their leader KCR’s public meeting. But with Election Commission of India (ECI) imposing restrictions on public gatherings, holding a public meeting in the by-election constituency became impossible. So the party choose Penchikalpeta village which is just 5 km away from Huzurabad.
Out of sudden, ECI has come out with orders imposing Covid restrictions on public meetings to be held in adjoining districts of Huzurabad. This has hit very bad to the party, which had planned for massive public meeting to be attended by KCR and over one lakh people were expected to participate. This decision came as a shock to TRS, since they already faced a setback with the stoppage of Dalit Bandhu and now no public meeting of KCR.
But undeterred by the restrictions, KCR is likely to use TRS plenary session to be held on October 25 an alternative to his public meeting. The plenary session and KCR speech will be live telecasted and the purpose of the party will be solved, believes the veterans in TRS.
