TRS Party Harish Rao: Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s go-getter Harish Rao is slowly losing out his sheen in the party and is even being branded that he is leading TRS to debacle and not success. After leading the election campaign at Dubbaka a year ago and letting TRS lose, he repeated his performance, this time still worse, at Huzurabad.
Huzurabad was treated as prestigious seat by ruling TRS. Especially since Eatala Rajender quit the party and later as MLA in June and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to fight against TRS in the by-election. TRS supremo took this issue to the heart and over a period made this election an issue of prestige for himself.
Having taken the Huzurabad by-election seriously, KCR fell back upon his go-getter, nephew and finance minister T Harish Rao to do the job for the party. Having given responsibility, Harish Rao shifted his camp to Huzurabad over the last five months and has been strategizing for TRS win, albeit with no success. His dedication to see TRS win the seat and keep up to the expectations of their leader, Harish Rao even gave a miss to party plenary session that was held in Hyderabad on October 25.
Harish Rao conducted several meetings in the constituency, literally went to every nook and corner of Huzurabad assembly constituency, met local leaders, tried to convince general public to vote for TRS. Though leaders in the state capital were trying to project that it would be easy win for TRS, Harish Rao was the man on the ground and taking all the things in his stride.
Despite best of the efforts, Harish Rao couldn’t manage a win for TRS. He faced similar humiliation at the hands of BJP last year during the Dubbaka by-election. With two major setbacks to TRS, thanks to their go-getter, it seems the party is in no mood to give responsibility of Vemulawada by-election to Harish Rao, which is likely to happen very soon due to discrepancy in the elected candidate’s credentials.
