Even as the state of Telangana is gearing for upcoming MLC election in the next two months, there is a large scale of accusations and counter allegations levied by ruling and opposition parties. This is common but what is uncommon is the fact almost all the parties have decided to protest against each other, starting with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today, followed by Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) and CPM tomorrow. As if these are not enough, YSR Telangana Party is also holding a 72 hour protest in Hyderabad starting tomorrow…
It all started with TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao raising the issue of paddy procurement by Union government. KCR pointed out that centre was not ready to procure paddy and hence he had suggested the farmers in the state to cultivate other crops. The CM had called for state wide agitation by its leaders on November 12 demanding the Union government to procure paddy from Telangana.
The party working president and state IT minister KT Rama Rao has a laid route map for his party leaders to follow for November 12. He has suggested the local leaders in all the districts to seek the permission of district collectors and conduct dharnas “since local area constituencies’ quota MLC elections code is applicable.”
Apart from state wide protests, the TRS has called for a dharna at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park in Hyderabad to express their support and solidarity to farmers who are protesting in Delhi for almost a year. Even for this dharna, KTR is monitoring them guiding the leaders to maintain peace and conduct the protest.
Even as TRS was getting ready for tomorrow’s protests across the state, the BJP has gone ahead and is holding dharnas across the state in protest KCR’s words and blamed that it was duty of state government to procure paddy from the farmers. In retort to TRS, BJP is holding dharnas across the state.
The BJP leaders mention that the state government had to establish 6,500 paddy procurement centrers all over the state, “but KCR government had setup only 1000 centres, it is the responsibility of the state to procure the paddy produced by farmers,” said BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
He said, “KCR government was discouraging farmers from cultivating farmers because paddy cultivation requires constant water supply and for this government has to provide electricity. To escape from the burden of purchasing electricity, the state government was asking farmers to avoid paddy.”

Meanwhile, CPM blames that TRS and BJP are jointly responsible for the ruckus and both were misleading the farmers. In protest against attitude of centre and the state government towards paddy procurement issue, CPM will be holding dharnas across the state tomorrow. On the other hand, YSRTP chief YS Sharmila has called off her padayatra due to Election Commission of India’s model code of conduct. She has decided to sit in protest for 72 hours in Hyderabad against the state government and in support for the farmers!
