Sangareddy is all ready for the fourth Manjeera Kumbh Mela, which attracts devotees from across Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and other States.
The Kumbh Mela will also be visited by many Naga Sadhus from the Himalayas. On the banks of the River Manjeera at Panchavati, which is situated between the villages of Humnapur and Raghavapur in Nyalakal Mandal, the 12-day Garuda Ganga Poorna Kumbh Mela-2023 will take place between the auspicious dates of April 24 and May 5. The first Kumbh Mela was organised in 2010 under the direction of Panchavati Kshetra Seer Kasinath Baba. Later, it was held in 2013 and 2018, drawing a huge number of devotees. The district administration and Panchavati Kshetra are working together to make elaborate preparations for celebrating the Kumbh Mela ritual in a significant fashion after a five-year hiatus.
A tributary of the River Godavari, the River Manjeera, rises 823 metres above sea level in Maharashtra in the Balaghat range. In the Beed district, the village of Gavalwadi lies quite near the river’s source. It travels 724 kilometres across Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana before arriving at the Nizam Sagar project downstream the River Godavari. At Gauda Gav, the river will enter Telangana.
