As expected, Team India won the second Test match against New Zealand in just four days. The Virat Kohli-led team posed a massive target of 540 runs for New Zealand to win the match. Just like the first innings, the Kiwi batters failed once again and got all-out for just 167 runs in the second innings. Thus, India won the match by massive 372 runs. India also sealed the series by 1-0.
New Zealand started off their innings this morning with an overnight score of 140/5. Indian bowlers took no time to dismiss the rest of the batters and finished the game in less than an hour. Jayant Yadav, who made his comeback after a long time, scalped four wickets this morning. Ashwin dismissed one other batsman and completed the match. Daryl Mitchell (60) remained the highest scorer for New Zealand. Jayant (4/49) and Ashwin (4/34) scalped four wickets each for India.
This is India’s biggest victory in terms of runs. Their previous best was a 337-run win against South Africa in 2015. This also happens to be New Zealand’s biggest defeat in terms of runs. Their second-worst defeat in terms of runs was against South Africa (358 runs) in 2007.
