T20 World Cup: We have witnessed two historic games during the semifinal stages of the ongoing T20 World Cup. In the first semifinal, underdogs New Zealand gave a shocker to strong England. In the second semis match, Australia gave Pakistan its first defeat in the tournament. Both matches were close thrillers and there are a few uncanny similarities between both these games.
1. In the first semifinal held in Abu Dhabi, New Zealand won against England by 5 wickets. In the second semifinal held in Dubai, Australia also won by 5 wickets, against Pakistan.
2. In the first match, New Zealand chased the target of 167 runs in 19 overs. In the second match, Australia also chased the target of 177 runs in 19 overs.
3. In both the semifinal games, the chasing team needed over 60 runs in the last five years. On both occasions, the chasing teams finished the game with one over remaining.
4. In two semifinal games, the chasing teams needed 22 runs off the last 12 balls. Both teams took only 6 balls in their respective games to chase the targets.
Both New Zealand and Australia will take on each other in the mega final which will be held on November 14. There will be a new T20I Champion this time as both these teams are yet to win a T20 World Cup.
