The much-awaited India Vs Pakistan match ended up as an utter disappointment for Indian fans. Pakistan completely dominated India from ball one and got a sensational victory against Virat Kohli’s men.
While it was Shaheen Afridi (3/31) and Hasan Ali (2/44) who broke the Indian batting order, it was Babar Azam (68*) and Mohammad Rizwan (79*) who broke the Indian bowling order. With their collective effort, Pakistan has defeated India by 10 wickets while chasing a target of 152 runs.
It was a one-sided chase as both Babar and Rizwan troubled Indian bowlers from the beginning. They beat Indian bowlers all over the park in the powerplay and shifted to a responsible game in the later overs. Their sensational partnership has resulted in handing over a record 10-wicket victory to their country.
On the flip side, the Indian batting innings was completely in contrast to its opponent. Shaheen Afridi dismissed both openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in the first three overs. Even Surya Kumar Yadav got out inside the powerplay. Captain Virat Kohli (57) tried to settle the innings with Rishab Pant (39) but once their partnership was broken, India never recovered.
By the end of 20 overs, India managed to score only 151 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Along with Afridi, Hasan Ali bowled a brilliant spell and troubled the Indian batsmen.
This is the first time India lost to Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. It is also the first time India lost to Pakistan in any World Cup.
Pakistan will take on New Zealand in its next match on October 26. On the flip side, India will also take on New Zealand on its second match which will be held on October 31.
