Pakistan has achieved a unique record in the ongoing T20 World Cup. It has become the only team in the Super 12 stage to remain unbeaten. In the final match held against Scotland, Pakistan won by 72 runs and is entering the semifinal stage in style.
Once again, it was an all-around performance by Pakistani players on both the batting and blowing fronts. They have batted first and posted a massive score of 189/4 on the board. Though opener Rizwan and first-down batter Fakhar Zaman failed to score big, skipper Babar Azam (66) made a valuable partnership with Mohammed Hafeez and Shoaib Malik (54* off 18 balls). The latter played a blistering knock and helped Pakistan in scoring such a massive score.
It was obviously a herculean task for the Scotland players to chase that huge target, especially against the bowling lineup of Pakistan. As expected, they have succumbed to the Pak bowlers and have lost wickets in regular intervals. Only Richie Berrington (54*) has managed to put up a decent performance. Shadab Khan (2/14) has scalped two wickets for Pakistan.
Shoaib Malik was awarded the Player of the Match for his quick-fire innings. Pakistan will now face Australia in the second semifinal on November 11. In the other semifinal match, England will take on New Zealand. This match will be held on November 10.
