Ahead of big India and Pakistan clash, we have witnessed another interesting game between the subcontinent countries Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. In this relatively high-scoring game, Sri Lanka achieved a comfortable win against Bangladesh by 5 wickets. Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s brutal knocks shambled the bowling line-up of Bangladesh. Thus, Lankans chased a target of 172 runs in just 18.5 overs.
Sri Lanka got an early blow while chasing this big total. Opener Kusal Perera was dismissed right in the first over bowled by Nasum Ahmed. But, Lankans recovered quickly with the partnership of Nissanka (24) and Asalanka (80*). Soon, they have lost the wickets of Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, and Wanindu Hasaranga in a span of two overs.
All of a sudden, Sir Lanka was in trouble. However, Asalanka continued his aggressive innings with the help of Rajapaksa (53). Their partnership of 86 runs has ensured a victory for Lanka. Finally, they scored 172/5 in 18.5 overs. Nasum and Shakib Al Hasan bagged two wickets each for Bangladesh.
Though Bangladesh lost with a bad bowling performance, they did well with the bat. Opener Naim (62) scored a scintillating half-century and set things up for a big total. Senior player Mushfiqur Rahim (57* off 37 balls) played a blistering knock in the second half of the innings and helped Bangladesh score 171/4 in 20 overs.
Sri Lanka will next face Australia on October 28. On the flip side, Bangladesh will take on England on October 27.
