Just like Pakistan, England is having a great run in the T20 World Cup 2021. After winning its first game against defending champions West Indies, the Brits have registered their second straight win with a victory over Bangladesh. Tymal Mills’ sensational spell (4-0-27-3) and Jason Roy’s (61 off 38 balls) brutal knock helped England in getting a massive victory by 8 wickets.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh elected to bat first. Their decision backfired as the English bowlers breathed fire with deadly deliveries right from the beginning. Once again, Moeen Ali’s (2/18) spin magic worked in the powerplay and got England the wickets of Liton Das and Naim. Even Shakib Al Hasan got out inside the powerplay. After the fall of three wickets, Mushfiqur Rahim (29) and Mahamadullah (19) tried to settle the game. However, the tight bowling of Liam Livingstone (2/15) in the middle overs and Tymal Mills (3/27) in the death overs never allowed Bangladesh in scoring big. Thus, they have ended up scoring 124/9 in 20 overs.
England planned to use this low score chase to better their net run rate even better. Opener Jason Roy started hitting Bangla bowlers all over the park and never allowed them to take his wicket. He scored fifty in just 33 balls and made the win a cakewalk for England. Even though Jos Buttler got out early, Roy got good support from Dawid Malan (28*). When England was nearing its victory, Roy got out. Malan then finished things along with Jonny Bairstow. Thus, the Brits have scored 126/2 in just 14.1 overs.
With this huge win, England’s net run rate has become +3.614, which will be a huge add-on for them in the latter stages of the league. The English men will next face Australia on October 30. On the flip side, Bangladesh will take on West Indies on October 29, which will be a do-or-die match for both teams.
