Biryani is synonymous with Hyderabad… People of Hyderabad love to gorge on Biryani and now the cost of Biryani is going to increase in the coming days. Want to know the reason…The return of Taliban rule in Afghanistan is the reason for the increase in the cost of Biryani as the popular Hyderabadi biryani is prepared with dry fruits and a variety of spices. According to the reports, the Taliban have stopped the movement of cargo through the transit routes of Pakistan. Due to this, the cost of spices and dry fruits sold in India is going to increase.

Dr Ajay Sahai, Director General (DG) of Federation of Indian Export Organisation speaking to a news agency said that, “We are keeping an eye on the developments in Afghanistan. Imports from there come through the transit route of Pakistan. At the moment, Taliban has stopped the movement of cargo to Pakistan, so imports have virtually stopped,” Dr Ajay Sahai, Director General (DG) of Federation of Indian Export Organisation.” He further added that, “If trade doesn’t resume, prices of the existing dry fruit stock will shoot and traders will have to also look for alternative sources of supply.”

Now, the restaurant owners in Hyderabad are facing problem to get the spices and dry fruits from other markets due to shortage in supply. As a result, the price of biryani is going to increase. It is said that earlier, the cost of single Chicken Biryani would cost around Rs. 250 and now the price may increase to Rs. 350.

The Indira Park management in Hyderabad’s Domalguda erected a banner outside the park stating that unmarried couples are not allowed inside. The poster grabbed all the attention after the activist Meera Sanghamitra shared a tweet with the poster. Sharing the pic, she wrote, “New low and new level of moral policing by Indira Park management in Hyderabad! A public park is an open space for all law-abiding citizens, including consenting couples across genders. How can ‘marriage’ be a criterion for entry! @GHMCOnline and @GadwalvijayaTRS, this is clearly unconstitutional.” Meera also tagged GHMC Mayor G Vijayalakshmi on Twitter.

Speaking to a news agency, GHMC Secunderabad Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy said that, “We were just informed about the existence of such a banner following which we have removed it. The banner was put up by low-level officers. We were not informed about it. When it was brought to our notice we removed it promptly.”

Meera demanded that this is very unfair to put up a banner without authorisation. She further added that an inquiry should be made and action should be taken against those who have put up the banner. In February this year, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the Hyderabad police had prevented young married couple from visiting parks and other public spaces around Tank Bunk.
