Puri Jagannath’s son Aakash Puri is yet to find his groove as a lead hero. After the failure of Mehbooba, he now came up with his latest outing Romantic. Directed by Anil Paduri, this film features debutante Ketika Sharma as the female lead. The film has hit the screens today and here is the review of it:
Story:
Vasco Da Gama (Aakash Puri) is a budding crook who is raised in the slums of Goa. He joins a gang that does drug dealing. Eventually, Vasco finds a lucrative deal and while trying to pursue it, he lands in trouble and becomes a target for the police department. A special cop Ramya Gowarikar (Ramya Krishna) gets appointed to catch Vasco. Will Ramya be able to arrest Vasco? What is Vasco’s relation with Mounika (Ketika Sharma)? To know these answers, you have to watch the film.
Performances:
Aakash Puri gave an earnest performance in the film. His character is similar to every hero in Puri Jagannath’s movie. He gave an energetic performance and did well in the action sequences. He has all qualities of becoming a perfect commercial mass hero in the future. Newcomer Ketika Sharma was cute and gave a good performance. Her chemistry with Aakash is the major highlight of the movie.
Ramya Krishna was apt in the role of a cop. Her screen presence is enough to make proceedings interesting. She impresses with her performance. Uttej got a pivotal emotional role and he did very well. Sunaina provided a few laughs. Rest others have performed within their limitations.
Technical Aspects:
Puri Jagannath penned the story, dialogues and screenplay of this movie. We can see his mark right from the beginning to the end. However, everything seems routine barring the climax. If the entire film is interesting as the climax, Romantic would have been a great watch.
Director Anil Paduri was impressed with the way he helmed the movie. Music by Suneel Kasyap was okay. The cinematography and the production values were top-notch.

Verdict:
Romantic is targeted at youth and it caters to them in most of the departments. But the team should have focussed a bit more on the plot and its emotions. Though the chemistry between the lead pair and action sequences works well, people feel like watching an old movie in a new format. On the whole, Romantic may appeal to the youth and can remain a one-time watch.
