Rhea Chakraborty: Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty finally got some relief in her ongoing drug-racket case. A special anti-drugs court-ordered to unfreeze her bank accounts after almost 14 months. The court has also ordered the officials to return her mobile phone and laptop.
Rhea, along with her brother Showik Chakraborty and two dozen other people Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) were arrested last year for allegedly arranging drugs for the actor and Rhea’s boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead at his apartment on June 14, 2020. Rhea was arrested on September 8, 2020, and immediately the officials have taken her gadgets into custody and froze her bank accounts. She was released on bail after 28 days of imprisonment but continues to attend the interrogation sessions of NCB.
Rhea recently filed a petition in the special court requesting access to her bank accounts and electronic gadgets. Thus, the court gave the order to unfreeze her accounts. However, Rhea must furnish an indemnity bond of Rs. 1 lakh for the return of her laptop and mobile phone. The court also ordered that she cannot sell or discard the gadgets until the investigation is over.
“From the reply of the (NCB) officer, it appears that there is no strong objection from the respondent side for unfreezing the bank account and FDs of the applicant,” said the court while accepting Rhea’s plea.
