Brand endorsements are key income generators for many actors. Various stalwarts choose brand endorsements to expand their market. Even the brands use the actors’ stardom to promote their company. But sometimes, stars receive a heavy backlash for the brand they are promoting. Actress Regina Cassandra is now experiencing the same.
Recently, we have seen Superstar Mahesh Babu doing a ‘pan masala’ advertisement. No other hero in Tollywood endorses as many brands as Mahesh. The actor thought that the ‘pan masala’ brand will also remain one of the regular products he endorses. However, his fans didn’t like him promoting it and the advertisement faced severe criticism.
Even Amitabh Bachchan faced flak for promoting a tobacco brand. Eventually, he had to declare pulling out his contract with the brand.
Heroine Regina was recently seen in the ad-commercial of the whiskey brand Signature. She is seen promoting it by saying the dialogues, “I believe in having a fine taste. Magnificence and excellence go hand in hand, just like the all-new Signature whiskey. Inspired by nature, crafted by the master blender.”
Audiences felt it was wrong and criticized Regina heavily on social media. Until now, she hasn’t given any official statement. It has to be seen if she ignores the criticism or pulls off her contract with the liquor company.
On the film front, Regina was last seen in a cameo role in the film Thalaivi.
