Rahul Gandhi In Telangana: Even as the ruling TelanganaRastraSamiti (TRS) is making huge hue and cry about senior Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the state and are questioning his sincerity with regards to Telangana farmers. Rahul will be attending RythuSangharshanaSabha in Warangal Arts College grounds today and it is believed that the Parliamentarian is likely to announce agricultural policy for the state.
Undoubtedly, all roads in Telangana are leading to Warangal and with state party leaders toiling day and night over last one week to make the public meeting a grand success as well as mobilize people from their respective constituencies.
Setting aside their differences, all Congress leaders are making collective efforts for the success of the Warangal meeting. Several Congress leaders camped in Warangal for a fortnight to oversee the arrangements for the RythuSangharshanaSabha.Preparatory meetings were held in undivided Warangal, Karimnagar, Nalgonda and Khammam districts. TPCC aims to mobilise around 5 lakh people for the public meeting.
MPs Uttam Kumar Reddy, KomatireddyVenkat Reddy, MLAs and other senior leaders were mobilising the people from their respective constituency limits. Congress party believes AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s public meeting in Warangal in 2003 had paved the way for the Congress to win power in the 2004 and 2009 general elections. On the same lines, the public meeting in Warangal by Rahul Gandhi would help the Congress return to power, feel state Congress leaders.
After the Warangal meeting, Rahul will reach Hyderabad and will participate in various public programmes the next day. Congress leaders tried to get the permission for Rahul Gandhi to have an interaction session with Osmania University students, but permission has not been granted by the varsity.
Meanwhile MLC Kavitha took to twitter and asked Rahul Gandhi how many times he had raised Telangana’s issues in Parliament. In her tweet, the former MP said, “As ShriRahulGandhiJi arrives in Telangana today, I sincerely request him to introspect on the following. How many times have you raised the issues of Telangana in parliament? Why is Congress Party Silent while TRS Party was fighting with the Union Government over the Uniform Paddy Procurement Policy, National Status for Irrigation Projects, discrimination in establishing educational institutions, releasing of pending GSTs and grants etc.”
Reacting to Kavitha’s remarks on Rahul Gandhi, senior Congress leader and former Nizamabad MP, MadhuYashkiGoud, said, “I sincerely advise you to revisit Parliament proceedings, you are an ex-MP u have access to the library. when @INCIndia under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi Ji was fighting for a separate Telangana, your father and TRS MP were not seen anywhere. Congress kept its commitment to separate Telangana even if it cost us AP. But how would you or your party understand the value of commitment/accountability?”
