Puneeth Rajkumar: Puneeth Rajkumar’s sudden demise due to a massive cardiac arrest has shaken the entire state of Karnataka. People are yet to believe the fact that he is no more. Every day, thousands of fans are visiting Puneeth’s memorial in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, fans and various other prominent personalities are now demanding a Padma Award for the late actor.
As per the report of the Deccan Chronicle, Karnataka’s Agriculture Minister BC Patil stated, “As a fan, I too join other fans. Being part of the government, I urge the Chief Minister to recommend the same to the Centre. Puneeth is qualified for it not only as an actor but also for his service to the society.”
Tourism Minister Anand Singh also extended his support for the demand. He stated that Puneeth had participated in a lot of social works and was an active philanthropist. He opined that the actor deserves the honor posthumously.
Actor Prem and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah is among a few other people who have demanded a posthumous Padma Award for Puneeth.
Even Karnataka’s Chief Minister Basaraj Bommai indirectly stated in a recent media interaction the government will recommend Puneeth’s name for a Padma Award.
Puneeth made his debut in 2002 and in a career spanning almost two decades, he acted in 29 films. He died at the age of 46.
