PRC in AP: The Pay Revision Commission (PRC) issue has embroiled into a major issue for Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy with the employees not accepting the CM’s 23% fitment instead of implementing PRC. They have been protesting and have even given ultimatum to the government saying that from February 7, they will go on indefinite strike!
Despite several attempts from the CM and others, the employees are in no mood to listen. Even when invited for talks, the AP Government Employees Associations have asked the government to repeal the GO which issued for implementation for 23% fitment, only then they would sit down for talks. But Jagan government too seems to be adamant and they are not stepping down even a bit.

Meanwhile, state government advisor Sajjala Rama Krishna Reddy seems to have touched the hornet’s nest! While calling the employees’ associations for talks he called the heads of these associations as “immature”. This has led to a fresh controversy with employees going against Sajjala and seeking public apology from the advisor to their leaders. He said, “I’m not sure what to call it. It’s not mature. It’s not even immature, I would have to use bigger words which I don’t want to say.”

It is said that the Finance Department has issued a circular on January 27 ordering the Treasury officials to draw up this month’s salary bills in accordance with the new pay scales, amid protests by employees demanding that the previous pay scale be continued.

The PRCStruggle Committee stayed away from talks with the government committee for the third day to resolve the pay revision issue. Employees’ unions had earlier issued a strike notice saying they will go on strike from February 7 if their demands aren’t met. The employees’ union leaders reportedly took exception to the advisor’s remark calling them “immature” and demanded that it be withdrawn immediately.
According to reports, Sajjala allegedly said the employees’ leaders should not act in an ‘immature’ manner. “‘Immature’ is a small word. I should use something bigger,” he allegedly remarked.
In yet another development, it is being mentioned that most of the employees are submitting to their respective departments and heads asking them to pay salaries as per old scales and they will not accept the revised pay scale of the Jagan government. This apart they have openly expressed their ire over Sajjala’s remarks and have demanded an apology.
