Pawan Kalyan-Vizag Steel: Tomorrow’s Deeksha is a Publicity Stunt?

Published by Jayadev k On December 11, 2021

Pawan Kalyan-Vizag Steel: If you had forgotten that Pawan Kalyan is just a film star and not a politician who still thinks about the people of Andhra Pradesh, here is your chance to correct yourself. Star-turned politician and founder of Jana Sena Party (JSP) Pawan Kalyan is back in the news, not for completing the shoot of Bheemla Nayak, but for remembering himself as a politician!

Yes, when entire Andhra Pradesh had almost written him off as a political alternative and everyone thought the JSP chief will concentrate on films rather than politics, here he is back… and back with a bang, say the party cadre. He has once again decided to rake up the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant issue. The star politician will be sitting in protest against the privatisation of Vizag Steel Plant by the Union government.

Every time, Pawan rakes up the issue he bring embarrassment for state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its leaders. The union government has decided to go ahead with privatization of Vizag Steel and the centre is led by BJP and Prime Minister Narendar Modi! JSP is in political alliance with BJP in AP and by protesting against the centre’s move is nothing but going against the BJP’s dictum!

Despite several reminders from the BJP to JSWP chief about Vizag Steel issue, he seemed to be using it has a baton for his political existence. To prove to the general public that he is person concerned for the people, he comes in support of the steel plant employees who have been protesting against the Union government’s decision since a year. Pawan has used this issue couple of times now and tried to gain political mileage, but nothing much happened.

The JSP chief has once again decided to come in support of the protesting employees of the steel plant. Pawan Kalyan has decided to sit in protest and express his solidarity to the employees. Interestingly, the founder of JSP will not be going to Visakhapatnam and sitting in protest along with the employees, but he will be sitting in his party office in Mangalagiri from morning 10 am to 5 pm and expressing his protest!

Isn’t this a novel way to protest? We have never seen a politician in Independent Indian history who has decided to support a cause and sit for protest in his own office all through the working hours on a holiday! Does he not know people will laugh at such acts, isn’t it his duty to visit the place of protest and join the employees in the protest? It looks like Pawan Kalyan was just giving a live feed to television channels and gaining publicity!
