According to the reports, the director, Sekhar Kammula first approached Panja Vaisshnav Tej but it is said that he has turned down the offer as he acted in a similar role in his debut movie, Uppena. So, the movie finally landed in Naga Chaitanya’s hand.

Pawan Ch scored music while cinematography and editing are performed by Vijay C. Kumar and Marthand K. Venkatesh respectively. For the first time, Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi acted in the lead roles while Rajeev Kanakala, Devayani, Easwari Rao and Uttej play supporting roles. The film is all about the story of an inter-caste relationship between Revanth (Naga Chaitanya) and Mounika (Sai Pallavi) who meet in the city while pursuing their dreams.
The film earned Rs. 60 crore at the box office, against a budget of 30 crores making it a commercially successful venture.
On the professional front, Chay will be seen in Thank You, a romantic comedy film directed by Vikram Kumar from a story written by B. V. S. Ravi. It is produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film stars Naga Chaitanya and Raashi Khanna in the lead role, with Malavika Nair, Avika Gor, and Sai Sushanth Reddy in prominent roles. He is also making his debut in Bollywood with the film, Laal Singh Chaddha.
