It’s the same story once again! There seems to be a rule of discrimination that the Union government follows while giving appointments to Telugu politicians and leaders. Be it Chief Ministers or state ministers or MPs, all are treated similarly, and none of them manage to get appointment of Union ministers, leave alone Prime Minister!

Telangana Ministers
But why is this step-motherly treatment to Telugu states? The case is same with Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao or Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. In fact it has been the same with former CM N Chandrababu Naidu! There seems to be an air of negligence on part of Union ministers when it comes to Telugu states. They are never taken seriously and most of the time, appointments are not confirmed to ministers and CMs from both the states.
A delegation of Ministers and TRS MPs left for Delhi on Saturday evening, to ascertain the Centre’s stance on procurement of paddy from Telangana beyond the initial agreement of 60 lakh tonnes (approximately 40 lakh tonnes rice). They have sought appointment of PM Narendra Modi and Union Food and Public Distribution minister Piyush Goyal to up the issue in this regard.
Ministers S Niranjan Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, G Jagadish Reddy, Puvvada Ajay Kumar and Vemula Prashanth Reddy along with TRS Parliament members, took a flight from Hyderabad to Delhi on Saturday evening. The delegation will stay put in Delhi for two days on Sunday and Monday.
The Telangana delegation is seeking appointment with PM and Union minister to explain the prevailing situation in Telangana state and request them to clarify their stand on procurement of remaining paddy stocks for the Kharif season. But unfortunately they have not been given appointment. It is surprising that even the Union minister has not bothered to take a look at Telangana’s case.
After not getting appointment, the Telangana delegation met the press in Delhi and called the attitude of the Union government as irresponsible and unconcerned. They said that the centre was ignoring the needs of Telangana farmers and were in fact putting them into hardships. “Minimum courtesy is call the delegation and listen to their demands, but unfortunately, the central ministers and the PM were ignoring the Telangana delegation. This is very unfortunate,” state minister Niranjan Reddy said.

The minister said that the target of 60 lakh tonnes of paddy procurement will be completed today by Telangana government and another 12-15 lakh tonnes would be ready for procure. “We demand the Union government to give a written confirmation that they will procure additional paddy as well from the state. Since the state had numerous ill experiences with the centre, hence we are demanding for written confirmation. PM and his ministers should understand that we have not come to do politics to Delhi. Our concern is our state farmers,” Niranjan Reddy added.
