MLC Poll Results: As expected TRS sweeps all seats

Published by Jayadev k On December 14, 2021

MLC Poll Results: The ruling Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) bagged all the six MLC seats in five Local Authorities’ Segments (LAC) in Telangana today. The TRS candidates won in the first round of votes itself. And from then there has been no looking back. The TRS candidates got more than 80 per cent votes out of the total votes polled for winning the seat. All other candidates are eliminated automatically.

Of the 12 MLC seats for which elections are conducted, the ruling TRS won six seats unopposed. The irony is that the voters, elected representatives of local bodies like MPTCs and ZPTCs, are unable to cast their votes properly. As a result over 50 votes in each segment became invalid. Most of the invalid votes belong to the TRS.
Counting of votes for the MLC elections 2021 under the LAC quota commenced at 8 AM today in the State of Telangana amidst three-tier security at 8 AM on Tuesday. State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shashank Goyal said that all arrangements have been made for counting. He said that six tables were set up in Adilabad, 5 in Nalgonda, 5 in Medak, 5 in Khammam, and 9 in Karimnagar.

The election schedule was released on November 9 for elections to be conducted for a total of 12 MLC positions under the local body quota. Out of which, six seats were won unanimously. Of the remaining six, elections for two in the joint Karimnagar district and one each in the Adilabad, Khammam, Nalgonda and Medak joint districts were conducted on December 10, where a total of 26 candidates were in the fray.

For Adilabad MLC, TRS candidate Dande Vithal won by 666 votes majority. Total votes polled in the constituency were 862 and the ruling party candidate was polled 740 votes while his nearest candidate was independent who got only 74 votes.

The most exciting part of this election was Karimnagar where two seats were vacant. Moreover with Huzurabad going in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), there was a certain hope that cross-voting might happen in this district. But nothing of that seems to have happened. L Ramana was polled 441 votes while T Bhanuprakash was polled 584 votes; both the TRS candidates won their seats comfortably.

In Nalgonda, total votes polled were 1,233, and out of this the car party candidate MC Kotireddy was polled 917 votes while the independent candidate got 226 votes. Similarly in Medak, TRS had a cakewalk and its candidate V Yadav Reddy won the seat with 762 votes, while senior Congress leader Jeevan Reddy’s wife Nirmala got only 238 votes.

Khammam was yet another district where the MLC elections were expected to come up with surprise. But nothing of that sort happened and the Pink party had an easy run there as well. Tata Madhusudhan of TRS won by 238 votes majority, while Congress failed to create an impact through the elections!
