After debacle in Huzurabad by-election, Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) led by its chief K Chandrasekhar Rao is on the redemption mode. As part of the act he has been given a chance to reconcile with his party leaders and cadre by giving away MLCs seats under the MLA quota to all the major leaders who represent different sections and regions. TRS believes that this has come as a boon to the party since there has been a sense of unrest and uncertainty among local leaders after the party’s worst performance in Huzurabad!
While aspirants for the MLC tickets are numerous, KCR has a choice to select and keep all the influencers in the party under one flock. Presently, he is burning mid-night oil to select the right candidates whose selection will not affect others and lead to a new rebellion. Despite all the free hand given to TRS supremo, it is his own promises that are proving to be hurdles in the selection process.
It is a known fact that KCR had promised to give representation to BCs and Reddys in the legislative council. He went to an extent of promising two seats for each community. Presently they have six vacant MLCs seats that will go for polls on November 29. Obviously, it would unanimous election since TRS has got the majority of MLAs and under this quota MLCs would be elected.
The six MLCs whose term ended on June 3 this year are, the Council former Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Deputy Chairman Neti Vidyasagar, Kadiyam Srihari, Akula Lalitha and Bodakunti Venkateshwarlu, all from the ruling TRS. Since pandemic and Covid restrictions were prevalent, ECI had not conducted the elections then. So it has been scheduled for November 29.
With the latest notification from ECI, TRS leaders are trying to impress upon their party chief and bagthe seat. Already Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Kadiyam Srihari and Bodakunti Venkateshwarlu are confident that they will be given another chance to become the MLCs. While other three are also confident, but the list of aspirants is growing by the day and turning into a bigger challenge for KCR!
It is being said that KCR got L Ramana from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) with a promise of a state level post. So in all probability Ramana could be given a seat, moreover it is in line with KCR’s promise of giving MLC seat to BC community. According to sources at Pragathi Bhavan, former assembly speaker Madhusudanachary is also being considered for another seat. With this BC promise would be fulfilled.
Under Reddy community it is being said the names of Gutha Sukhender Reddy and MC Koti Reddy are being considered while in SC category, Kadiam, Errolu Srinivas and Mothukapalli are the names that are making rounds in Pragathi Bhavan. So the guessing game will continue until KCR makes the announcement within couple of days.
