Maharashtra activist Sambhaji Bhide on Wednesday refused to answer a question asked by a female journalist as she had not put a bindi on her face. The incident took place in Maharashtra.
He met Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at the state secretariat in south Mumbai and later he was asked a question by a female journalist. In the video, one could see him telling the female reporter in Marathi that she should apply a bindi before coming to take his byte. He didn’t answer her any of the questions and told the journalist that a woman is akin to Bharat Mata and that she should not appear like a ‘widow’ by not wearing a bindi.
The video went viral on all social media platforms. After the video went viral, Maharashtra State Women’s Commission chairperson Rupali Chakankar issued a notice to Bhide seeking an explanation for his remarks.
It is all known knowledge that Bhide was also criticised for his comments in 2018. He said that couples were blessed with sons after having mangoes from his orchard.
