Kashmiri Alpine skier, Arif Khan, has qualified for the upcoming Winter Olympics 2022 which are going to be held in Beijing from February 4 to 20. He hails from the Hajibal, a Village in Tangmarg Block in Baramulla District of Jammu & Kashmir State. He represented India four times in the World Championships.
Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, congratulated Arif Khan, Sports Council and Youth Services Sports department for the feat and expressed hope that he will perform his best in the Beijing Winter Olympics.
“The creation of world-class sporting infrastructure with training and coaching facilities has started showing results and more and more players are getting selected for National and International sports events,” said Farooq Khan in a statement.
He further stated, “It is a proud moment for the whole country.@JKSportsCouncil to ensure Arif is provided with world-class training facilities by best-in-class coaches&support staff.I wish him all the best for games.”
Who Is Arif Khan:
Arif Mohammad Khan took up skiing at the age of four. According to the reports, he was coached by his father who runs a ski rental shop in Kashmir. At the age of 12, Arif took part in his first National Championship and won a gold medal. Before turning 15, he participated in the Asian Junior Alpine Ski Championship, and at 17, Arif was one of the top 15 skiers at the Changchun Asian Games in China.
