KCR in Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s Delhi visit was termed as game changer in politics, especially in Telangana! A trip that promised to resolve state farmers’ issue, join the protesting farmers in Delhi and also come up with solutions for water issues. But unfortunately nothing happened; above all the Union government seems to have made it clear that no more paddy procurement would be done from the state!
Disappointing indeed for KCR and entire state, especially when we consider the fact that neither Prime Minister Narender Modi nor Union home minister Amit Shah could accommodate time for the Telangana CM. In fact it was state IT and industries minister KT Rama Rao who had met Union minister for Commerce Piyush Goyal, KCR had no meetings and over the three days he seemed to have waited in vain for appointments.
Further damage to the CM happened when Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee got audience from the PM and she could easily meet Modi and discuss her state issues. The question is why Modi and Shah are not ready to meet KCR. Is there anything wrong in our state’s approach in seeking an appointment? This experience is not total new, earlier on couple of occasions, KCR faced this disappointment, so did former Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu and also present AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Commenting about “failed Delhi visit” by KCR, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president a Revanth Reddy wrote an open letter and said that the CM had failed to reassure the farmers of the state and that the ‘drama’ enacted by him was part of the ‘match-fixing’ between the TRS and the BJP. “Rather than procuring paddy, which is getting damaged owing to the delay, KCR is trying to fool people by bringing up the non-issue of Rabi crop. What kind of assurance will he give to the farmers whose crop is already damaged,” he asked.
The CM after staying in Delhi for three days returned yesterday since he did not get appointments to meet the PM and other ministers. KCR had promised to discuss with the Union government about paddy procurement and water issues, unfortunately nothing happened. He did not even venture out to meeting the protesting farmers near Delhi.
It is being said that KCR will once again visit Delhi in December third week and meet the PM and other ministers! Will the CM get the appointment at least then?
