KCR Calls For Alternative Agenda: What Is The Alternative Agenda?

Published by Jayadev k On April 28, 2022

KCR Calls For Alternative Agenda: Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao spelled out his national ambitions very clearly in the 21st party Formation Day and Plenary session. Though it is not clear whether he intends to topple Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government or even form a nation political front that would be formed by non-BJP and non-Congress parties, it is vaguely expressed that if people call for KCR’s national presence he was ready to accept the challenge. But interestingly he said there was need for alternative agenda and not an alternative political front!

What is the alternative agenda that KCR is mentioning about? Will it be political or non-political? Who will be the driving force for this alternative agenda? At the end does this agenda help the TRS supremo fulfil his national ambitions?

KCR said what the country needed now was an alternative agenda and not political realignment. “Our fight is not to dislodge anyone from power or against any political party. Our agenda is to realise the aspirations of the common man and ensure basic amenities to all,” he said, and revealed that he had said no to the Communist leaders’ suggestion of dislodging the ruling BJP at the Centre. “The focus should not be on bringing down a party but on ensuring overall development of the country,” he said.

Asserting that Telangana will play a crucial role in bringing about the change at the national level, KCR said the country needs a new political force “TRS will play a major role in redefining the country’s goals. India will react and unification of forces will happen. People should be able to decide what they want and governments should implement them and not the other way around,” the TRS chief said.

“It is not about building a front against this party or that party. It will be a pro-people political front. What we need is an alternative agenda, a new economic policy, a new industrial policy and an integrated agricultural policy,” he said. He hinted at setting up a national party, referring to the suggestions to expand the scope of TRS and set up a Bharata Rashtra Samithi.
