The Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) which is celebrating 20 years of party formation is having its plenary sessions in Hitex, Hyderabad. The city has been decked up for the vent and over last fortnight many leaders and party cadre having working for this mega event. As anticipated the party chief and Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao once again became the president of the party.
Returning officer and former MLC Srinivas Reddy announced the election of KCR as the party president and later speaking on a high-voltage note, KCR looked back at the history of the party and said separate Telangana agitation started with few friends and later went on to become a movement to reckon for the people of Telangana. “There was no stoppage for Telangana liberation fight and over the period people from all walks joined and made the fight a success,” he said thanking all the people who have laid their lives for Telangana.
Recalling the days when people said that separate Telangana state would starve, would face power, water and investments deficit would make the state one among the poorest, KCR said things have changed a lot and in fact everyone were surprised by the successful governance of the state and how over the time it has become a power surplus state in the country. “Recently we have been working on taking water to every nook and corners of the state and this has also fetched high results,” he mentioned.
The TRS supremo also pointed out that the state has become the rice bowl for the country and has shown very good yield of agricultural crops.
Even as KCR traced the achievements in the state, he also took this as an opportunity to take a dig at YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directly and also YS Sharmila indirectly. After the introduction of Dalit Bandhu, KCR claimed that many people in Andhra Pradesh were asking him to come to their state and contest elections, so that after TRS wins that state could also have schemes like Dalit Bandhu.
“This was direct hit at Jagan’s governance, while he indirectly pointed out that her yatras will not fetch anything since the state was doing very well under TRS!,” said a senior political journalist. The TRS president promised that after the Huzurabad elections Dalit Bandhu would be implemented on war-footing in the place and TRS was bound to see all the dalits happy and prosperous!
