IPL Retentions: IPL retentions were revealed last night by all the eight existing teams. Some of the retentions were expected while there were some surprises as well. On the whole, all teams have left some of their star players due to multiple reasons. These players will have a chance of getting bought by the two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad.
These two new teams can buy up to three players. They can spend Rs. 33 crores each for buying these players. The breakup to buy three players is Rs 15 crore, Rs 11 crore and Rs 7 crore for the first, second and third priority players respectively.
Some of the star players who were left by their franchises are Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, David Warner, Rashid Khan, KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shreyas Iyer, Ben Stokes, Harshal Patel, Devdutt Padikkal and Jofra Archer.
Most of these players are already making negotiations with one of the two new teams. It is being heard that KL Rahul will move to the Lucknow franchise. Even Rashid Khan is holding talks with the same team. Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan may get purchased by the Ahmedabad franchise.
It is reported that these two new teams will have a window from December 1 – December 25 to buy players. After the deadline, they can’t purchase any player. The rest of the players will get into the mega auction that will be held early next year.
