The IPL retentions are made final and everyone is now clear about the players retained and players released. The two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, have a chance of buying three players each from the released list, ahead of the mega auction. Meanwhile, we hear that both these franchises are not only luring the players with high salaries but coaches as well.
According to the sources, the Lucknow franchise, owned by the RPSG group is holding talks with Trevor Bayliss and Andy Flower to be a part of their team’s coaching staff. Trevor worked as KKR’s head coach and made them win two titles, in 2012 and 2014. He later coached the England Cricket Team and made them win the 2019 ODI World Cup. He worked as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s head coach in 2020 and 2021. It is now being heard that he may join Lucknow’s camp from IPL 2022. SRH already confirmed that Bayliss is not a part of the team’s staff anymore.
On the flip side, Andy Flower also resigned to his post as Punjab Kings’ assistant coach and is all set to join the Lucknow franchise. The owners will most likely buy KL Rahul and Rashid Khan ahead of the mega auction.
