IPL 2022: Virat Kohli is the only player in history who played for a single team since the inception of the Indian Premier League. The star cricketer has been associated with Royal Challengers Bangalore since 2008. No other player, who played all the 14 seasons, has been associated with a single team. Recently, Kohli also stated that he will play for RCB till he retires from the league. Thus, the franchise is all set to retain him for the next three seasons.

Virat Kohli
According to a report by The Indian Express, it is being heard that RCB will retain Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell ahead of IPL 2022. It is already known that a mega auction will be held in early next year where every team will undergo major changes. Each team is allowed to retain up to four players. They can retain a maximum of two overseas players.
Maxwell has been phenomenal for RCB in IPL 2021. Going by his form, the team is planning to retain him for the next season as well. It is already known that AB De Villiers, who has been a backbone for RCB for the last 10 years, had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket a few days back. Thus, he will not take part in next year’s IPL.
Meanwhile, it was shocking to see RCB leaving some of the bright youngsters like Devdutt Padikkal, Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel. They also need a new skipper as Kohli left his captaincy duties after IPL 2021. On the whole, it looks like RCB is planning to retain only two players and form a whole new group for the next season.
