IPL 2022: Indian fans couldn’t get a chance to watch an IPL match live in the stadium for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the 2020 edition was completely held in the UAE, the 2021 edition was partially held in India and partially held in the UAE. Now, BCCI’s secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that IPL 2022 will be held in India for sure.
Shah was one of the guests who attended the Chennai Super Kings’ celebrations event last night. Speaking at the event, Shah said, “I know you are all eagerly waiting to watch Chennai Super Kings play at Chepauk. The moment is not very far, the 15th season of the IPL will take place in India.”
“It will be more exciting with new teams joining. We have a mega auction coming up to see what the new combination looks like,” Shah further added. Lucknow and Ahmedabad are the two teams that will be joining IPL from next season.
All teams will undergo a major revamp because of the addition of two new teams. Each IPL team is allowed to retain up to four players. They can retain up to two overseas players among the four final retentions. The mega auction is most likely to be held in February 2022 and the next season of IPL will kickstart in April. Further details about the tournament will be announced in the coming days.
