IPL 2022: Just a few days back, the eight existing IPL teams have announced their respective retentions and submitted the lists to the BCCI. They were allowed to pick a maximum of four players with not more than two overseas players included. Now, the BCCI will allow the two new teams, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, to buy any of the released players.

IPL 2022
Both Lucknow and Ahmedabad teams can buy a maximum of three players each from the released list, ahead of the mega auction. They can spend Rs. 33 crores of their 90 crore purse to make these purchases. The first priority player will be paid Rs. 15 crores, the second priority player will be paid Rs. 11 crores and the third priority player will be paid Rs. 7 crores.
The teams can offer and make negotiations with the players but the final call will be taken by the latter only. If the players choose to get into the mega auction, they will and no team has a right to stop them from doing so.
The released players’ list includes many big names like KL Rahul, Rashid Khan, David Warner, Faf du Plessis, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya Jonny Bairstow and Krunal Pandya. We have to see how many players the two new teams will buy among these stars within their bracket of buying three players each. The transfer window will be open till December 25.
