IPL 2022: The IPL retentions were announced last night. It was Sunrisers Hyderabad that surprised many people with its retention choices. It retained Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik. While they spent Rs. 12 crores for Kane, Rs. 4 crores each were spent for Samad and Malik. Two star players they have left are David Warner and Rashid Khan. The omission of Warner was expected because things didn’t work well between the management and him for the last few months. Warner himself said that he will enrol for the mega auction. But Rashid’s exit came in as a surprise.

IPL 2022
Rashid was the trump card for Sunrisers for the last five years. He made his debut in IPL in orange jersey and has been a backbone for the team since then. Most of the fans also love Rashid. Thus, leaving him must have been a hard decision for SRH.
Apparently, Rashid wanted SRH to make him its first priority player and give him a salary cap of Rs. 16 crore. But SRH was not ready for that. Thus, they had to leave him. It is now being heard that Rashid is holding talks with the Lucknow franchise. If the deal finalizes, he may represent that team from IPL 2022.
Meanwhile, a lot of fans were upset with the exit of Rashid. They opined that he should have been given the first priority because he is the no.1 T20 bowler and is also more valuable than Kane Williamson. SRH’s management stated that it was Rashid’s decision to take part in the auction. They wanted to respect his choice. The management further added that they will try their best to buy him in the auction.
