There is no stopping for Team India in the ongoing T20I series. After the setback of the T20 World Cup, India came back strong in this bilateral series that is being held against New Zealand. It won the second T20I today and sealed the 3-match series. Once again, a batting super show from India resulted in its victory.
After winning the toss, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma chose to bowl first. New Zealand got a good start as openers Daryl Mitchell (31) and Martin Guptill (31) were explosive in the beginning. When Guptill got out in the sixth over, Mitchell got good support from Chapman (21).
But the duo went back to the pavilion within a gap of a few balls. Then, no other New Zealand batter, except for Glenn Philipps (34), have shown intent. Ashwin (1/19), Axar (1/26), Harshal Patel’s (2/25) splendid show with the ball made the Kiwis post a total of 153/6 by the end of 20 overs.
India got a flying start from openers Rohit (55) and Rahul (65) while chasing this moderate target. The duo made a partnership of 117 runs for the first wicket and confirmed a comfortable victory for India. In the process, they have also completed their respective half-centuries.

The Kiwi skipper Tim Southee (3/16) got the wickets of Rahul, Rohit and also Surya Kumar Yadav, during the final phase of the game. However, India wasn’t in a trouble at that time and its victory was almost confirmed. Finally, Rishab Pant finished off things by hitting two consecutive sixes and helped India score 155/3 in 17.2 overs.
India will play its final T20I on November 21 in Kolkata.
