After winning the toss, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma chose to bowl first. New Zealand got a good start as openers Daryl Mitchell (31) and Martin Guptill (31) were explosive in the beginning. When Guptill got out in the sixth over, Mitchell got good support from Chapman (21).

But the duo went back to the pavilion within a gap of a few balls. Then, no other New Zealand batter, except for Glenn Philipps (34), have shown intent. Ashwin (1/19), Axar (1/26), Harshal Patel’s (2/25) splendid show with the ball made the Kiwis post a total of 153/6 by the end of 20 overs.

India got a flying start from openers Rohit (55) and Rahul (65) while chasing this moderate target. The duo made a partnership of 117 runs for the first wicket and confirmed a comfortable victory for India. In the process, they have also completed their respective half-centuries.
