Ind vs NZ First Test Day 5: Team India’s hide and seek with the win didn’t really end up in its favour as the first Test match against New Zealand ended up as a draw. The final day has been intriguing with both the teams giving their best. While India tried to pressurise New Zealand by scalping quick wickets, the latter tried to defend as many balls as possible to make the match a draw. Finally, with the help of debutant Rachin Ravindra’s stoic innings, New Zealand managed to end the game as a draw.

New Zealand started off the day with an overnight score of 4/1. They got a good start from Tom Latham (52) and William Somerville (36) as both of them managed to build a partnership of 76 runs. Finally, India got Somerville’s wicket a few minutes before lunch. Latham then settled the innings with Kane Williamson (24 off 112 balls). In the process, he also completed his second half-century of the match. It was Ashwin who got Latham’s wicket and brought India back in the game.
Later, the likes of Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls and Tom Blundell failed to support Williamson. All of a sudden, it looked India will win the game. But Rachin Ravindra’s (18 runs off 91 balls) stubborn innings didn’t allow Indians to win the game.
