Ind vs NZ First Test Day 3: After failing to take a single wicket of New Zealand on the second day, Indian bowlers have put on an impressive performance on the crucial third day of the first Test match. With a combined effort from all the bowlers, India managed to get a lead of 49 runs after the end of the first innings.

New Zealand openers Tom Latham (95) and Will Young(89) started off well this morning. They added 30-odd runs to their partnership. Finally, Ashwin gave a breakthrough by dismissing Young when the latter was nearing his century. Later, Umesh Yadav got the wicket of dangerous Kane Williamson. Then Axar came into the picture and dismissed Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, and Tom Latham. Even Latham got out when he was five runs short of the century. Later, no other batter made a useful contribution to New Zealand.
In the process, Axar (5/62) claimed two more wickets and got a fifer. With the help of his brilliant spell, New Zealand got all-out for 296 runs. Ashwin (3/82) got three wickets. Jadeja and Umesh got a wicket each.
After getting a lead of 49 runs, India wanted to make a mark in the second innings. But the Kiwi pacer Kyle Jamieson gave an early blow by dismissing Shubman Gill for just one run. By the end of the day, India’s score was 14/1. Mayank Agarwal and Chateshwar Pujara are in the crease. The lead now stands at 63 runs.
