Published by Sri Ram On December 4, 2021

The match was started late due to the wet outfield. Toss happened after the lunch break. Thus, the game had only two sessions on the first day. Captain Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first. His decision proved to be right as openers Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill gave a steady start to India. They made a partnership of 80 runs for the first wicket. The Kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel broke this partnership by scalping Gill’s (44) wicket.

Within no time, he also dismissed Chateshwar Pujara (0) and Virat Kohli (0). All of a sudden, India’s score became 80/3 from 80/0. Then, Mayank and Shreyas Iyer (18) tried to build the innings. They made a partnership of 80 runs for the fourth wicket. Once again, Patel came in and dismissed Iyer.

India needs a strong start tomorrow in order to post a big total on the scoreboard.
