Team India had a shaky start on the first day of the second Test against New Zealand which is happening at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mayank Agarwal’s unbeaten century and Shubman Gill’s impressive knock helped India in ending the day with a score of 221/4.

The match was started late due to the wet outfield. Toss happened after the lunch break. Thus, the game had only two sessions on the first day. Captain Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first. His decision proved to be right as openers Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill gave a steady start to India. They made a partnership of 80 runs for the first wicket. The Kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel broke this partnership by scalping Gill’s (44) wicket.
Within no time, he also dismissed Chateshwar Pujara (0) and Virat Kohli (0). All of a sudden, India’s score became 80/3 from 80/0. Then, Mayank and Shreyas Iyer (18) tried to build the innings. They made a partnership of 80 runs for the fourth wicket. Once again, Patel came in and dismissed Iyer.

After that, wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha (25*) gave support to Mayank (120*). In the process, Mayank also scored his century. By the time of stumps, India managed to score 221 runs for the loss of four wickets. All four wickets were taken by Ajaz Patel (4/73). India needs a strong start tomorrow in order to post a big total on the scoreboard.
