The whole cricketing world witnessed a history just about a while ago in Mumbai. New Zealand’s spinner Ajaz Patel created that history by scalping 10 off 10 wickets against India in the first innings of the second Test match that is being held in Mumbai. He is only the third player after England’s Jim Laker and India’s Anil Kumble, to achieve this feat in the history of Test Cricket.
Ajaz was brilliant with the ball right from the start of the game. The pitch was also favouring him all the while. As a result, he managed to trouble Indian batters whenever he came to bowl. His spell of 47.5-12-119-10 will now be etched forever in the record books of Test cricket.
Ajaz scalped four wickets on day one of this Test. Today, on Day 2, he scalped the rest of the six wickets. Among the three bowlers who scalped 10 wickets in a single innings, Jim Laker (10/53) had the most economic spell, followed by Anil Kumble (10/74).

As a result of Ajaz’s heroics, India got all-out for 325 runs. Mayank Agarwal made a beautiful century and ended his innings at a personal score of 150 runs. He was supported well by Axar Patel this morning. In the process, Axar also scored his maiden half-century (52 runs). It has to be seen how the Kiwi batters will take on Indian spinners now, on this turning surface.
