Gold worth over Rs. 50 lakh was recovered from the toilet on an IndiGo flight by the customs department. The flight arrived from Sharjah, UAE. The weight of the recovered gold is about 977 grams, which is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 50,80,400 on the market.
The recovery was made from the 6E-1412 Sharjah-Lucknow flight which reached Chaudhary Charan Singh airport located in Lucknow on Sunday.
In a routine check-up by the cabin crew, the gold was found. The cabin crew found a packet inside the toilet of the flight. The customs department officials said that the packet was in the form of a paste stuck with tape in the lavatory of the plane.
The customs department said that the identity of the person who had kept the gold in the toilet and its source is not known yet. The gold was in possession of the customs department and the officials are taking further legal action.
