It was indeed surprise to hear Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao saying that Union minister for food and public distribution Piyush Goyal had insulted the Telangana delegation of ministers and MPs were insulted. The delegation had called upon the minister with regards to getting clarification on paddy procurement.
The CM alleged that union food minister Piyush Goyal insulted and humiliated Telangana ministers’ delegation as well as officials from state’ when they went to Delhi recently to meet him to discuss paddy issue. He alleged that Goyal asked the Telangana delegation if they did not have any other work except talking about paddy procurement and also asked whether it was necessary that thesemany ministers and officials came repeatedly to Delhi to meet him to discuss the paddy issue.
KCR pointed out that delegation of ministers S Niranjan Reddy, Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Ch Malla Reddy and 10 MPs met Goyal on November 26 on paddy procurement issue and buying og para boiled rice. It is alleged that the Union minister commented, “you don’t have any other work, why all of you have come again here.”
Deeply disturbed by the attitude of the Union ministers towards Telangana leaders and Telangana people, KCR said that Union government was not being just unsupportive but are completely ignoring the state and its people.
KCR attacked the Union government for not revealing annual procurement quota from Telangana despite repeated requests. “They have refused to procure paddy in rabi. They have also refused to clarify how much quantity of paddy they want to procure in this kharif. They also refused to reveal the annual procurement quota for Telangana,” the CM observed.

He said though the Telangana delegation were deeply pained by the remarks of the Union minister Piyush Goyal, the members accepted the insult for the sake of the Telangana farmers! The Union government or the minister are yet to make any comments on the issue and seems to have ignored the topic. Whatever said and done, it is not right on the part of a Union minister to insult the state delegation. He should have given a patient hearing and told them softly.
