The two new franchises of the IPL, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad, are allowed to choose three players each from the released players’ list before the mega auction. They need to submit this list by the end of next week. It is heard that both the teams have made the negotiations and is getting ready with their lists.
According to the sources, the Lucknow team will be buying KL Rahul, Rashid Khan, and Ishan Kishan ahead of the mega auction. Mostly, Rahul will be leading the side and he may get named as the captain ahead of the league. Rahul was released by Punjab Kings last month. Rashid and Ishan were released by Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians respectively.
On the flip side, the Gujarat team is in the final negotiations with a few players. Apparently, Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer are finalized as of now. Mostly, Iyer will be given the captaincy responsibilities. He had led Delhi Capitals in the past. The third choice of the Gujarat franchise will be either David Warner or Quinton de Kock. It has to be seen who among these players will be picked by the management.

The rest of the released players will get into the auction. Apparently, the defending champions Chennai Super Kings are aiming to buy the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shah Rukh Khan and Washington Sundar in the mega auction.
