Sometimes, the amount is so huge that one would really wonder if the particular player is worth to be bought at that price. This year, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, and Rishab Pant became the most expensive retentions. 1. Virat Kohli – Royal Challengers Bangalore – Rs. 17 crores
The star player was retained by RCB for a whopping amount of Rs. 17 crores in the past. This year, they have retained him for a price of Rs. 15 crores.
2. Chris Morris – Rajasthan Royals – Rs. 16.25 crores
Morris became the most expensive buy at the auction in IPL’s history with a price of Rs. 16.25 crores. However, his value didn’t add on much for RR in the league.
3. Rohit Sharma – Mumbai Indians – Rs. 16 crores
The Indian T20I captain was retained by Mumbai Indians at this price this year. He will continue his services for the team for the next three years.
4. Rishab Pant – Delhi Capitals – Rs. 16 crores
Delhi made Rishab its first priority retention this year by paying him this staggering amount.
5. Ravindra Jadeja – Chennai Super Kings – Rs. 16 crores
Defending champions CSK retained Jaddu for Rs. 16 crores. They retained MS Dhoni for Rs. 12 crores. Apparently, Dhoni gave his spot to Jaddu because he will most likely retire from IPL after the 2022 season.

6. Yuvraj Singh – Delhi Capitals – Rs. 16 crores
Delhi Capitals (Delhi Daredevils at that time) bought Yuvi for this whopping amount in the past.
7. Pat Cummins – Kolkata Knight Riders – Rs. 15.5 crores
KKR went all-in at the auction and bought Cummins for this huge price a few years back. Overall, his contribution to the team was not good enough.
