To commemorate the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s 75th birthday, pastry chef Rakesh Kumar Sahu from Begunia of Khordha who runs an institute of baking and pastry art at Tanka Pani Road made a chocolate sculpture weighing around 72 kg. He along with his six students worked for 15 days to finish the sculpture.
Sahu, a sports lover said that he has come up with the idea of creating the sculpture as a tribute to Naveen Patnaik for his constant support for Indian Hockey from the last few years which resulted in a stunning performance by the Men’s and Women’s National Teams in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympic Games 2020.
He said that “I was celebrating the bronze medal win just like the rest of the country when it struck me that I should do something special for our Chief Minister who stood by the National Hockey Teams like a rock during its lowest phase.”
Sahu and his students have faced many problems during the making of chocolate sculpture and they have had many sleepless nights due to temperature variation and changes in moisture levels in their workshop. Odisha Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera in Kalinga Hockey Stadium on Naveen Patnaik’s birthday on Saturday unveiled the chocolate sculpture.
Naveen Patnaik is an Indian politician serving as the current and 14th Chief Minister of Odisha.
