Car For Jagan’s Convoy: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s official visit to Ongole city has left a family heading to Tirupathi on road! Must be wondering what is the connection with CM’s visit and family being left out on road. No it is not traffic restrictions, it is something very bizarre that forced the pilgrims to desert their vehicle without proceeding further!

Family members of Vemula Srinivas from Vinukonda were stranded in Ongole as Road Transport Department staff forcibly took away a sports utility vehicle (SUV) rented by him for going on a pilgrimage to Tirumala. The vehicle was seized by the staff in connection with security arrangements for the CM’s visit to the city on April 22.

The shocking incident occurred on Wednesday night when the family travelling in the cab to Tirupati had stopped for dinner at a hotel in Ongole. A constable told them that they needed the vehicle for the convoy of the Chief Minister who is scheduled to visit Ongole on Friday. When the family said they are going to Tirupati for pilgrimage, the constable reportedly told them that he can’t help except saying sorry and took away the Innova vehicle along with the driver.

Star-turned-politician and JSP president Pawan Kalyan has condemned the occurrence of such incidents. “When the CM of a State visits a place, vehicles are sourced from local transport operators. We have never heard of citizens being forced to part away with a vehicle,” the party chief said.

The incident attracted the attention of everyone and the Andhra Pradesh government and the CM came in for heavy criticism from all sections. Pawan Kalyan expressed shock that the government didn’t have vehicles for CM’s convoy. He questioned why the Road Transport Department officials were pressurized to harass tourists in the name of elaborating the CM’s convoy. He wondered if the state government was desperate for funds to arrange vehicles for CM’s convoy that forced them to take private operators’ vehicles.
